From the Desk of Mr. Smith:

As we begin the 2009-2010 school year, the improvements begun last year are evident on our campus.  The new staff parking lot is nearly complete.  The nine new “green classrooms” are really taking shape with framing nearly completed.  Ground has been broken on the foundation for our new multi-use room and cafeteria.  Another visitor parking lot has also been graded and will soon provide visitor parking for up to eighteen vehicles.  By next August the classrooms should be ready and we will look for completion of the multi–use shortly thereafter.

With all of these changes, we have managed to continue the same strong academic program that is the Evergreen tradition.  We are proud of our gains in the district proficiency tests at all grade levels.  Our ten point growth in API score, (916) and the fact that all of our subgroups met their state growth targets speaks to the high standards that this learning community sets for students.

The community can take pride in the academic excellence that is expected at this school.   Another source of community pride is evidenced in the modern improvements that have been provided by community supported bond measures and parcel taxes.   These same funds have also provided funding for the return of instrumental music instruction for our fifth and sixth graders this year.  We look forward to another successful and rewarding academic year in 2009-2010!
